Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 6 year old daughter has had blood in her urine twice in the last week which was not due to a bacterial infection. After the initial incidence the pediatrician said it might have been viral (I forget the name). 6 days later, she has had another attack. Again, no bacteria was found, kidney functions on the surface was fine. Is it possible it was the same virus or is this an indication of something more serious What could be the cause?
It is common for viruses like entero virus to cause bloody urine. But this is usually not recurrent. If recurrent, we need further investigations, of which an ultrasound abdomen and urine Calcium creatinine ratio is the first step. Kindly discuss with your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
