What Causes Blood Pressure And Pulse To Shoot Up During Chronic Diarrhea?
I have chronic diarrhea and when I have a diarrhea episode I get really high blood pressure with it 185 over 123 pulse 68 after I go, then my bp immediately drops to norm and goes back up with my cramps till I go again. Is this ok since it goes back down or do I need go to the er ( my episodes last few hrs)
Hi welcome to HCM. Elevated blood pressure in your case seems not be related to the chronic diarrhoea.Water loss from the stool is generally associated with low blood pressure.I advise you to have a baseline ecg and 2 dimensional echo to rule out any organic heart disease contributing to hypertension.Drugs like beta blockers and calcium channel blockers will help to reduce the blood pressure.Consult your cardiologist for further help.Complete renal profile is also indicated to document any renal failure secondary to chronic diarrhoea. Thank you.
