Hello Dr. Grief my name is Kathy, and 57 years old. I just got over a 2 week cold. (coughing, congestion, etc).......When I woke up this morning my left eye is all blood red.... does not hurt not itchy.....looks as though I broke a blood vessel.....My concern was I ve never had one like this where the total white of my eye is red...
I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having redness of the eye probably because of a broken of a blood vessel. This is called as subconjunctival hemorrhage. It usually resolves by 1-2 weeks slowly as the blood gets absorbed. No treatment is generally required. No need to worry about this red eyes. Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment accordingly.
Hope the information is helpful to you. Thank you
