Hi. I had what I thought were thrush symptoms a week ago and self medicated with an oral capsule and vaginal cream in a prefilled applicator . No change in real discomfort so I saw my GP who took a swab (no results yet) and presecribed a stronger antifungal ( sporonox). Still no change after 36 hours. back to my doctor who gave me a seven day course of antibiotic vaginal cream. She suspectrs I may have a bacterial infection rather than a fungal one. A year ago I had what she called a beta heamolytic strep vaginal infection so maybe that has reappeared. For the last five days I have had blood stained discharge and the pain is still bad - still very sore and uncomfortable. ( No recent sex, no new partners.) I am 50 years old. Any ideas what might be causing this?
