Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Blood Vomiting While Treating Acute Pancreatitis?
My husband was coughing and throwing up blood, he has acute pancreatitis and has had a major whipple done 3 years ago. I took him to the Er and hey did a CT scan and some bloodwork. Scan showed nothing abnormal and bloodwork said his sodium was low and his blood sugar was798 so he was given insulin. He is not a diabetic. He is continuing to vomit blood, only at night after laying flat, and when he coughs there is still blood. Could this be something hat was overlooked?
I will suggest you to any hospital where gastroenterologist is available who will examine you and do endoscopy examination and may be colonoscopy. Because the blood in vomitus followed by blood in stool is an emergency as it may be from upper gastrointestinal tract only. Visit your doctor for examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
