What Causes Blood While Urinating?

Hi, my 4 year old son has a couple drops of diluted blood come from the tip of his penis every time he urinates, and has a bowel movement. It s basically because he is pushing out whatever is left.... He was at the doctor today, and they said it could be a virus because his leukocytes and proteins were normal... I am still very uneasy and want to have a second opinion.... please help!!!

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

the possibilities here could be -
1. Urethral injury
2. Hemorrhagic cystitis
3. Renal stone
4. Bladder stone
5. Renal glomerular disease if it is red colored urine
He will need an RFT/Ultrasound abdomen and urine routine as baseline investigations and then we can proceed from there.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
