I woke up two day`s ago with my right eye bloodshot, there is no pain and my vision is good but it looks like a burst blood vessel. I have started taking Avapro irbesartan 300mg for high blood pressure two weeks ago on advice from my doctor, could this medication have something to do with it ? Tony
Hello It seems from the history that you are having a broken vessel resulting in subconjunctival hemorrhage. It can occur following minor injuries or rubbing of the eyes or spontaneously in people with diabetes or hypertension. Hence your antihypertensive medications are not responsible for subconjunctival hemorrhage. The treatment for subconjunctival hemorrhage is generally not required and it will resolve by 1-2 weeks.
Thank you
