Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The last two times I have gone to the bathroom and my stools have been bloody. The blood is bright red in color and colors the toilet water and I marks the toilet paper. I have felt mildly nauseous & lethargic. I have been pretty stressed out this last month, could this be the cause?
this sounds like bleeding from hemorrhoids. You haven't mentioned any discomfort during defecation, so an anal fissure or external hemorrhoids are less possible. Internal hemorrhoids though, may cause bleeding without any discomfort at all and they do cause streaks of blood on the stool and also blood on the toilet paper.
Other - more serious - diagnoses cannot be excluded though and clinical examination (and perhaps also endoscopic evaluation) is important. If hemorrhoids is indeed the diagnosis then managing constipation is the solution. Drinking enough water, walking or exercising and eating a lot of fiber really help. If the bleeding or the symptoms get out of control, surgical approaches also exist.
I hope I've helped! You can contact me, if you'd like more information.
Kind Regards!
