I have a 12 month old who has had a low-grade fever for 3 days caused by a virus (per our pediatrician). The baby is currently taking Augmentin for an ear infection. He now has several pink blotches on his skin - primarily on his thighs, which a couple on his upper arms and one on his torso. He was already checked last Monday for foot/hand/mouth, which he was deemed negative. What could be causing these blotches? They do not seem to bother him.
Hi. As per your case history your child may be having viral exam them. My treatment advice - 1. Don't worry. It is a self limiting condition. Continue your treatment for fever. 2. An anti allergic like hydroxyzine syrup can be added 2.5ml twice a day. 3. Apply calamine lotion twice daily for soothing effect. Lesions will mostly recover in 2weeks. If condition persists then consult a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr.harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
