What Causes Blotchy Looking Marks On The Back?

I have quite extensive blotchy looking marks up and down my back, it s not sore and not really itchy. It s seems to look more prominent some days than others. It s been there for months and as it doesn t bother me I haven t done anything about it. Any ideas what it may be?
