What Causes Blue Discoloration Around The Mouth And Breathlessness?

I have a 93 year mother who for a long time now going blue around her mouth, is very breathless when she moves around. We have had her to a heart Dr but he said her heart is ok for a 90 year old. Her hands and feet are very blue and cold as well. She has been having TIA or small strocks as well. Can you please let me know what you think. Thank You. Margaret

Hi,
From your information regarding your mother, I think the blue discoloration may be peripheral cyanosis. This may be an indication of a lung problem. I suggest you see your doctor for further investigation. This would involve blood tests, lung function tests and a chest xray in the first instance.
