What Causes Blue Discolouration Around A 3 Years Old S Eyes?
My 3 yr old granddaughter has blue discoloration around her eyes. Dark enough to look like lack of oxygen. She has had respiratory problems since birth. Hospitalized twice with breathing treatments. Tubes in her ears 3 times. Tonsils removed, but still experiencing congestion, running nose, cough. She is 42 lbs. Good health other than this. Is this blue normal. Why can t she get rid of respiratory problems. Allergy tests ran. No allergies.
Hello and welcome to healthcare magic Your grand-daughter is abit overweight for her age Cynosis (bluish discolouration around) eyes point towards the fact that she has smaller than average quantity of oxygen in her body. These two facts suggest that she may have a condition obstructive sleep apnea. The cause can be enlarged adenoids (Tonsils like organ at back of the throat).Which might be the cause of recurent chest infection.Observe for loud snoring and interrupted breathing while she is asleep. An ENT (ear nose throat) specialist will diagose and possibly remove enlarged adenoids surgically. The other condition which comes in mind is Heart disease which can lead to cyanosis and recurrent chest infections so I advise to have her checked by a cardiologist. Hope you find this answer helpful. Good luck.
