What Causes Blurry, dark Area At The Corner Of My Right Eye?

I have a burry, dark area (seems like I'm looking through a drop of oil) in the corner of my right eye. When I look to the left to try and see it better it disappears. When I look to the right it becomes more apparent. When I close my eyes it appears to be a white blob. I've had it for about a week in a half. I have an optometrists appointment in two days to have a look at it. Thanks
