hello dear. welcome to HealthCareMagic. Thank you for trusting us. I have understood your queries.
firstly, may I know how old are you? how long have you had bulging disc? how much dosage of gabapentin, tramadol and butrans have you used? the three of these can cause the side effects like you had: dizziness, nausea and vomiting, tiredness, and muscle pain. but there's no interaction found by using those three drugs together.
1. gabapentin is an anticonvulsant medication, can be used to treat neuropathic (nerve) pain in adults. most reported side effects include: ataxia (in-coordination of body), dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, fever, sedation. Other side effects are
blurred vision, diplopia,
peripheral edema, tremor, amblyopia, irritability, back pain, muscle and joint pain, depression, and xerostomia (dry mouth).
2. Tramadol is an
opioid analgesic for mild and severe pain. It works in brain and nervous system to decrease pain. Common its side effects are headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tired feeling, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomachache, nervousness, anxiety, itching, sweating, flushing, asthenia (
muscle weakness).
3. Butrans skin patches contain
buprenorphine, an opioid/narcotic pain drug. Butrans is for treatment of moderate to
severe chronic pain that is not controlled by other medicines. Common side effects such as constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, and nausea. Other side effects are fatigue, vomiting,
hyperhidrosis, and xerostomia.
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. in this case, you get major side effects by using those three medicines, and if it really bother you much, please let your treating doctor know about your condition. you may need dosage modification or get the alternative drugs that safer for you.
be aware of these:
1. do not stop using gabapentin, tramadol or butrans suddenly, even if you have felt fine. Stopping suddenly may cause increased your pain.
2. do not increase or lower the dosage without doctor's permission. Follow your doctor's instructions about tapering your dose.
4. do not crush the pills, swallow whole. even if tramadol & gabapentin can be used without food, better consume it after eating so it can control your nauseous.
5. take it at the same time regularly every day. gabapentin is better used in the evening after meals, to reduce the dizziness.
6. if the symptoms persist or worsen, please meet your treating doctor.
I hope these can be useful for your worries. please let me know if there's anything else you need to know about your health condition. get well soon. take care.
