What Causes Boils Along Hairline At The Back Of Neck?

Hello
I get boils along my hairline at the back of my neck. This has been a nagging problem for the past 6 years. Occasionally, some of these boils become very big, sore and painful. I used some antibiotics like amoxycillin but of no use. Please help.

Hi,

The boil like lesions on the back of neck may be acne keloidalis nuche. It is a form of follicultis with keloidal tendency. It is a chronic disease. It may be secondarily infected by bacteria. You may take antibiotic like azithromycine 500 mg or minocycline 50 mg daily in morning with isotretinoin cap 10 mg at night for few months. After clearance of infection you may take intralesional steroid like triamcenolone 10 mg few days intervals till the lesions subside. You may apply antibiotic cream initially and then you may apply retnoid gel 0.012% gel. You may be improved. I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
