What Causes Breast Enlargement While On Radiation For Partial Mastectomy?

I have had 4 weeks of radiation for a partial mastectomy ending Nov. 5, 2017. I have complained about my breast getting larger the last weeks of radiation. I have found out lately that taking your blood pressure in the same arm that I had 3 lymph nodes removed from could cause lymphedema. I have it and wonder why my 3 doctors haven t prevented me from getting it. Also what can I do to get rid of it. I will be going to PT on Feb. 22 for this problem.

Hello,

It is completely a misconception that checking blood pressure would lead to Lymphedema. Lymphedema might be seen in some patients who undergo lymph node dissection.

All that you need to do now is wear pneumatic compressions or stalkings which would compress the area and undergo physiotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Avanti Sathineedi
