What Causes Breathing Difficulty Along With Excessive Burping?
My 8 year old has been complaining of being unable to get a deep breath. This is often happens at bedtime and she also yawns excessively and then burps out the excess air. She says it feels like their is a bubble in her throat and she can t get it out. She has trouble falling asleep as she constantly sits up to gulp air and then burps. She just had a well child check up two weeks ago and the doctor said he thought it was stress related and not an actual breathing problem. It s summer break and she isn t under any undue stress at the moment (no major life changes or obligations). She has no other symptoms of asthma/allergies and isn t visibly sick (wheezing, congestion, coughing). This has been going on for roughly two months. Any other suggestions?
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. Your daughter might be having GERD ( gastroesophageal reflux disease ). Because her symptoms like excessive gas, burping and breathing difficulty are seen in GERD. So follow these instructions for better symptomatic relief. 1. Avoid hot and spicy food. 2. Avoid stress and tension. 3. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals. 4. Start Proton pump inhibitors. 5. Go for walk after meals. 6. Keep 2 - 3 pillows under head in bed to prevent reflux. No need to worry, by above mentioned lifestyle modifications, she will be alright.
