What Causes Breathing Problem, tingling Sensation And Diagnosed With Under Active Thyroid?
Hello. My mother has a under active thyroid and in the last four - six weeks, she's been going downhill. She is now in hospital and cannot leave because as soon as she starts walking for more than 15 minutes she gets so tired that her breathings gets heavy, het left side starts tingling / feeling heavy, her muscles cramp / go into spasm. The same happens when she is in the car.
She has not been able to eat for a year and a half and lives on baby food stage 1. Could this be heart failure?
I have gone carefully through your query and understood your concern regarding to your mother's health. Under active thyroid can be treated easily let's say, because Levothyroxine can improve the symptoms within 4 weeks. If the thyroid hormones are within the normal ranges under treatment, it means that thyroid can not be a cause of her symptoms.
Heart failure should be the most probable diagnosis, having into consideration your description. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Dr. Mirjeta
