What Causes Brown Area Under Both Nipples?

Evening. Hi am 42 and recently noticed directly under my nipple(both sides) a black/brown sort of a dirty looking area like you would see after a kid was playing in the dirt/mud for a while.. There is no pain, lumps, etc. and the left side is much more pronounced. I did searches but found nothing like this on the web. Any advice is welcomed.. Thanks in advance!

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,

The brownish discoloration under the nipples can happen during hormonal changes usually seen during pregnancy or lactation.

These can be temporary and reversible changes. In case there is no palpable lump there is no need to worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Rakhi Tayal, OBGYN
