What Causes Brown Color Urination In A Child?

My 4 years old son looks healthy, no fever, no pain, but yesterday he called me to look at his urine and I was so terrified when I saw the urine which looks like a strong coffee. Actually I am going to take him to a doctor this evening but what could this be.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Cola colored urine in a well thriving child could mean post streptococcal glomerulonephritis following upper respiratory tract infection or skin infection. Don't worry, it is a self resolving condition. Please go to a pediatrician for blood and urine tests and blood pressure check-up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prasanna Lakshmi, Pediatrician
