What Causes Brown Colored Vaginal Discharge?

I have noticed a new brownish colored discharge from my vagina. This appearred two days ago, was not there yesterday, but has appearred again today.I have normal menstrual cycles, (last one was last week). I am considering visiting my own Doctor, should I be conncerned about this?
