General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Bleeding at 17 weeks pregnant stage can be due to-Trauma-( with history of hit on abdomen )/ high blood pressure in pregnancy( here bleeding with constant pain in certain part of uterus ia seen )/ painless, causeless bleeding can be present in Placenta previa. or low lying placenta- where slightest of exertion can cause bleeding & bed rest is mandatory. You must have undergone Xray/ USG scan & your doctor must have covered the cause with specific treatment. The brown/ black discharge follows for few days after the bleeding. This is old blood collected n uterus & is being drained out slowly. Please do not worry. Take rest/ continue medicines advised by your doctor. You need to visit doctor if there is fresh bleeding/ fever/ excessive cramps. thanks.
