Hi, I have always had a regular period, i have missed one this month, but have had a brown discharge for about 2 weeks. I had my first smear test about 4-5 weeks ago and came back with a small abnormality and have been asked repeat in 6mths time. Should i be worried and maybe have smear redone sooner?

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

It does not need a smear test sooner than what they have advised. Since it could cause false positive results. Just follow their advice. Do not stress yourself. Most of the time stress itself will be the major cause. Spotting may be due excessive growth of endometrium which has not shed due to hormonal imbalance.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
