What Causes Brown Spots Near Vaginal Opening?

I have noticed two brown spots near the opening my vagina. They are not raised and they are not itchy at all. It just looks like discoloration under the skin. The tissue isn't puffy either. Is this just discoloration of the skin over time? Or what could it be?
