What Causes Brown Spotting After Taking Progesterone Tablets?
I am 24 years old, got married one year back, last month i was suffered from jaundice and i missed periods for about two months, my doctor given me progesterone tables for five days, by telling after stopping it i ll get my periods. now i have taken tablets for five days, seventh day i got dark brown spotting, i have never ever got spotting like this,! Am i missed two months of periods because of sick?? is this normal? or it will cause any problem in my pregnancy?( planning for first baby). i m very much afraid pls clarify my doubts

Menstrual irregularities can occur due to many causes. General sickness like jaundice can lead to menstrual irregularity by affecting the reproductive hormonal balance. So, in case of absence of pregnancy, that 2 months of amenorrhea you had could be due to this. Progesterone tablets can help with inducing withdrawal bleeding by acting on the endometrium of the uterus. After stopping the progesterone tablets the period taken to start the withdrawal bleeding may vary from cycle to cycle.
Sometimes it may take 7 to 10 days also. Spotting can be preceded by bleeding sometimes. Brown color, usually indicates the collected blood in the uterus, you may get the withdrawal bleeding soon. Once you are completely cured of jaundice and start getting regular menstrual cycles hopefully, you may not have serious problems with fertility.
