What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Taking Sugar Pills?
I need help.. i have been on birth control for over a year. I start my sugar pills on sunday, today is wednesday. and for the past few days i have been having a heavy brown discharge to the point i need a tampon. just today it is starting to turn into a lighter more red color? is it possible to get my period when i am not on the sugar pills yet? this has never happened before. i am sexually active. there is no chance of me being pregnant is there????? im scared.. ive heard of breaking through bleeding could this be it? will i still get my period?
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Breakthrough bleeding can occur while on the oral contraceptives. If you have been taking oral contraceptive pills regularly and consistently, then the chances of pregnancy are almost nil. However, I will suggest you to get an urine pregnancy test done to confirm the diagnosis, if negative, then it is most likely the breakthrough bleeding, and you are likely to get your periods once you start the sugar pills. Hope you found the answer helpful. Regards Dr Deepti Verma OBGYN
