What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge While On Norethisterone?

Yes, I am on norethisterone because of heavy bleeding and I have fibroids as well I have been on this medicine for months it didn t stop the heavy blood and my doctor said I should take 2 in morning, afternoon and evening now my blood is stop but am seeing a brown vaginas discharge and if I stop the medical my blood will be coming back straight away and heavy. What cause the brown discharge please
