What Causes Bruise Lower Left Leg?

I have had what appears to be a bruise on my lower left leg for a year now. It doesn t hurt, but at times will itch. The color is blackish-purple and it looks like it has gotten a little bit bigger. I hadn t been concerned about it but now I am! What could be the cause? I m having blood work done in a week for my annual physical. Will that indicate any problems related to why I would have this?

Hi,

It may be progressive pigmented purpura. It may occur due to a long-standing position. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment. It is a benign condition, so no need to worry. I would recommend you to take tab vitamin C and tab vitamin K for a few months. Apply thrombophob oint with mild steroid cream. Keep the legs elevated while sleeping.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
