Hi, My name is Laura, I noticed yesterday that my left nipple look bruised and today little black dots have appeared that look a little like black head and seem to pop out if squeezed. Would you be able to tell me if this is normal and whether I should consult my GP?
Pimples on the nipple commonly occur due to blocked hair follicles which may take the form of white heads. Mostly they are benign. If the pimples are associated with rashes it can be indicative of fungal infections. If the pimples take the form of bump and are painful or itchy and present with symptoms like discharge, redness, or rashes, it could indicate another condition (cancer) that needs to be treated.
You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Do not scratch or pop it. Get clinically examined. If it is fungal infection, it will be treated with oral or topical antifungals. Your treating doctor may prescribe a course of oral antibiotics (Doxycycline) if need be. If some malignancy is suspected you will have to go through a few investigations so that treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
