What Causes Bruising Around The Buttocks During Tubectomy?

I am 33 and went tubing with my family on Saturday. While tubing, I hit a rock and a large (3 cm or so) dark purple bruise developed on my left buttocks. I have pain in my left side buttocks and now my left ankle is starting to swell. Is this something I should be concerned with?
