What Causes Bruising On Finger Knuckle?

I have an unexplained bruise on my middle knuckle of my middle finger on my left hand.I am right handed and have no recollection of hurting this finger.It first appeared about three weeks ago. I forgot about it.It didn't bother me until a few days ago it was tender again, and it is reddish purple this morning along with being tender. What could this be from?

most common cause for single joint bruise is unknown minor trauma

before jumping into any diagnosis and conclusions

1. do you have any joints pain -small/big
2. do you have morning stiffness
