Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My niece was born at 0550 this morning. She has brusing on one side of her body. She was 36 weeks when born and the pregnancy lasted 14 minutes. When the baby was born there was not a nurse or doctor present and the baby was born in the bed. Could the bruising be because she was born on the bed and not hand delivered?
skin discolouration and bruising are common following the trauma of birth and should improve quickly. it is important that your niece has her clotting checked and is given vitamin k.
