What Causes Bulky Ovaries With Multiple Follicles In Females?

Hello. I am a 14 years old girl. My period started at the age of 10. From last few months I am having irregular cycles with a delay of 5 to 7 days and having a bit more pain on the day of first menstruation. On USG, the ovaries were found to be bilaterally bulky and having multiple follicles. What may be the cause?

Hello, thanks for writing to HCM.
Your ultrasound report shows enlarged ovaries with multiple small follicles, and you also have irregular periods. I would like to think of Polycystic ovarian disease.
Do not worry, it is a very common cause of hormonal imbalance.
You must visit a gynecologist who can do the basic hormonal assay to check for the hormone levels.
Medication is available to treat it.
Remember to eat nutritious food and exercise regularly, as it is an important part of pcod treatment.

Hope I have helped you understand the problem.
Take care.
