What Causes Bunching Behind Rib Cage With History Of Pneumothorax In Lung?
Four years ago, I had a spontaneous pneumothorax in my right lung which was operated on. Everything has been fine until recently. Often, when I cough or sneeze, I actually feel something bunching up behind my rib cage; I m not sure if it s a muscle or my lung. I don t know if this some strange quirk or if I should be examined.
It is possible that you developed scarring of the lung following the pneumothorax surgery. This can cause a pulling feeling at or near the site of surgery. A chest xray would help look at this area further, but without other symptoms, I would not worry about it.
All the best.
