Hello- my 5 yr old started with what looked like a cigarette burn/rug burn on his arm, it then spread down his arm and to the other. It looks like it is scaly now. Not too itchy. It s lasted several days now. Today is day 5 and now has a fever. Don t know if it s coincidental or not. Very worried
Hi. As per your case history your child is having either an atopic eczema or pityriasis alba. Both the conditions may be increased by fever. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't worry. It will be cured soon with proper care. 2. Use a mild glycerine soap like dove or pears. Avoid using antiseptic soaps or liquid like Dettol. 3. Apply a good emollient like enmoist cream twice daily. 4. Other treatment options are topical mild steroid like hydrocortisone cream, oral antihistamines, oral antibiotics.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
