What Causes Burning And Itching Feeling In Vagina During And After Intercourse?

I recently had sex with my boyfriend. We used a ribbed condom, no lube. It felt good at the time kinda starting hurrting when we were getting into it. A little bit after I took a shower and noticed it was burning and kinda itching. I have been putting monistat 7 on it.. Its kinda gotten better, but it is still there and it s uncomfortable. I don t know what to do. I hope I will be able to have sex again!

Hello ma'am and welcome.

In my opinion, the sexual intercourse with lack of adequate lubrication may have caused minor abrasion from the penetrative action. This leaves the region vulnerable and prone to infection-causing organisms. In such a situation it is best to keep the region clean and dry, and continue with the application of monistat every once in a while.

Avoiding sexual intercourse for the next 10 -14 days would be wise. You should be able to continue being sexually active after that, but please do use adequate lubrication. If at all your symptoms do not subside, then you should visit your doctor.

Best wishes.
