HI WAS PLAYING BALL ON FRIDAY, AND I TRIPPED ON 2ND BASE... I FELL HARD ON MY KNEE, AND GOT WHAT LOOKS LIKE A GRAVEL BURN ON MY KNEE. I DID BLEED FROM MY KNEE FOR A LITTLE BIT, BUT IT WAS MORE OF A BURNING SENSATION THAT I HAD. NOW, MY KNEE IS VERY SWOLLEN AND VERY RED. SHOULD I GET THIS LOOKED AT?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query.
Since the swelling around your knee is red and painful, a bone injury is likely. You need to get an X-ray of the area done. MRI is the best investigation to diagnose the internal knee joint structures injury.I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. Till then avoid weight bearing on the knee and keep the leg elevated on two pillows.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
