Hi, Anal fissure is a small tear in part of the anal opening usually brought on by constipation. The pain starts during defecation and stays for a few hours thereafter. The fissure can heal like any cut on the body with rest. But that part does not get rest due to the repeated activity of defecation made more difficult if it has to dilate more during constipating stools. What you have to ensure is to have soft stools so that the anal skin does not get stretched during the act and then the fissure takes about four weeks to completely heal up or form a sentinel tag to protect the area. So my advice is that you take stool softening agents lie Senna and Syrup Lactulose about 20 to 30 ml at night. This will help and have a high fiber diet. Take care,
Dr Rishi, India.
