What Causes Burning Sensation After Splashing Grease On Eyes?

I got a small splash of grease in my eye while cooking. It is not red and eyesight does not seem affected but I can feel a mild burning sensation. I have put artificial tears in it several times. I am worried because I only have one functioning eye as it is.
