Hello,

You suddenly developed burning sensation all over body and face. The symptoms that you have may be indicative of allergic contact dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. In contact dermatitis the area of exposure to the allergen has burning sensation. However, in atopic dermatitis, burning is felt even without direct contact with allergen. Burning sensation is also experienced when there is a situation of anaphylaxis. Symptoms of allergy and burning sensation can also be caused by stinging nettles, poison ivy, etc.

You are suggested not to pop, touch or scratch as the micro tears in the skin can get infected hence causing burning sensation due to formation of pustules and oozing discharge. Exposure to direct sunlight causes the skin to dry and cause burning sensation. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Avoid the use of perfumed chemical cosmetics or body lotions as chemical present as it causes peeling of the skin making the skin more sensitive to burning sensation.

Burning sensation can be a symptom of nerve disorder / neuropathy. You have not mentioned if you are diabetic, if diabetic your symptoms may indicate developing diabetic neuropathy. Keep your blood glucose level under control at all cost. Avoid stress and anxiety as it may trigger skin ailments like herpes, eczema, etc.

You can apply a thin layer of ointment hydrocortisone on the area affected. Take non sedating antihistamine, to reduce the symptoms of allergy, inflammation and swelling. However, if your symptoms persist and get serious you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, it can be medical emergency that may need urgent medical support. Get examined by a neurologist also, get nerve conduction velocity tests and imaging tests done to rule out any developing nerve problem.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
