What Causes Burning Sensation And Pain After Skin Cancer Removal From Back?
I had skin cancer removed from by back (about 20mm incision). It has been 10 days since the surgery and I am developing burning sensation along with shooting pains that is getting worse each day. It is red aroung the incision area. There are white patches around the ends of the sutures that are getting bigger and increasing each day. Is this normal part of healing?
This seems to be a normal part of healing however, having said that, I would strongly recommend that you be seen and get this checked out because without seeing the wound we cannot be a hundred percent sure.
Wound healing process is complex. After skin removal while wound is healing there will be some contraction of tissues inside. The pain and burning could be from the healing process. Also during surgery if the nerves are damaged patients will get shooting pains and burning sensation. It is called neuropathic pain. There is also a chance of infection during the healing process. IF you see redness or any drainage from the wound you have to consult your doctor immediately. If there is no infection and you have consistent pain your doctor might give you some neuropathic pain medicactions.
