What Causes Burning Sensation During Urination After Drinking Soda?

Every time I drink a can of pop my urine burns horribly. I quit drinking anything carbonated because of this and the burning stopped. Recently I drank a coke and the burning happened again almost immediately when I peed. Can someone ease help explain this to me. It been going on for almost 10 years and the only fix I can find is to stay away from carbonation. Also, I m a 26 year old female. Please help!

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Your concern is understandable. As an Urologist, i must advise you to keep away from carbonated drinks, as they are not healthy.
Also understand, carbonated drinks are not the cause for your burning feeling in urine. You must get urine routine and culture tests done. also get an ultrasound scan of the abdomen.A blood routine and sugar test should also be done. Show the reports to your doctor, who will examine you, and follow his / her advice.
You can also contact me, by name, with reports. Wish you well.
