What Causes Burning Sensation In The Abdomen At Night?

I have a burning pain mid abdomen about 3 fingers above by belly button. It was intense 2 nights ago and even tender to touch. Now I get a milder episode with an empty stomach or after supper. I do not have an increase in gas nor constipation or diarhea. Having normal bowl movements. Tums does not change the pain at all. Is this gastritis which will resolve or pancreatitis symptom? I have had my appendix removed and the pain does not radiate to my back or either side.
