Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Burning Sensation In The Chest Post Gastric Bypass Surgery?
I have had a gastric bypass, with a ring around my esophagus. Also a Tummy tuck. Recently I started having a burning sensation in my chest where I think the ring is, and it makes it difficult to swallow food without big discomfort. Tums help, but the getting food down can be painful. Sometimes I have to throw it up to relieve the discomfort. What might be going on, and what type of doctor should I seek?
HI Well come to HCM Thank for choosing HCM, the given history could be suggestive of inflammatory condition or esophagus and looking to the procedures that could be the reason for the symptoms that you have, second it could be due to GERD, in my opinion with the history of GI surgery it is most advisable to see the surgeon and it should never be taken as granted hope this information helps.
