What Causes Burning Sensation In The Foot?

i had surgery over a year ago on the back of my neck for a pinched nerve. when i came out of surgery i had no sensation of hot or cold on the right side of my body and having a lot of burning on the right foot. I was told there is nothing that can be done to fix this problem. i was wondering if i should get a second opinion.
