What Causes Burning Sensation On Feet, fingers And Lips While On Thyronorm?
My mother aged 75 yrs taking thyronorm 50mg daily. She is not diabetic , but suffering from burning sensation on her feet, fingers & lips. she is put on valent 80mg for BP. Is thyronorm has side effect ? what could be the reason for burning sensation, 24hrs for the past 2 months.
Hello, Welcome to HCM and thank you for your query. I appreciate your concern for your mother. The reason why she has burning sensation in feet and fingers is because of a peripheral neuropathy. Diabetes is known to be the commonest cause. You may also get a Vitamin B 12 level done as its deficiency also produces peripheral neuropathy. Thyronorm does not produce neuropathy. Capsaicin containing local applications would give some relief. If it does not help, there are prescription medicines which a doctor can prescribe her that would help. If you have further queries, I am available. Wish her good health. Dr. Noble Zachariah
