What Causes Burning Sensation On Penis Post Unprotected Sex?

Hi Dr Hunter, I am finding your answer here very comforting. I am 46 year old male and I had sex about 6 weeks ago with three different women in the same week. About 3-4 days later I started to get a burning feeling on the skin of my penis near the tip. That burning sensation has not gone away. I did see a dr. and he ran an STD panel but I don t know what all he tested for. I am still burning today. I have tried almost 2 weeks of treatment with an anti fungal and I made an appointment to see my dr on Monday. I check ALL the time for blisters and bumps but have not seen any. Just the burning.. I think I had some minor swelling around the rim of the head. I can not sleep at night and the anxiety is causing real depression. Do you think the STD test my dr. ran included one for Herpes

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Burning sensation at tip of penis without any obvious symptoms Or signs like urethral discharge, genital sores/ erosion suggest me a possibility of Non-gonococcal urethritis/ NGU.
I would have liked more details regarding the nature of sexual contacts, most importantly, whether they were protected or unprotected sexual acts.
Non-gonococcal urethritis/ NGU can be due to various organisms like chlamydia, mycoplasma, ureaplasma and a condom would protect against these.
Non-gonococcal urethritis can also happen to harsh soaps/ antiseptics used for cleansing genital skin that may enter urethral meatus and cause burning sensation.
Genital herpes would usually present with genital sores, which are shallow/ superficial breaks in the skin or mucosa. Sores are usually also associated with burning sensation.
I am sure your STD panel testing would have also tested for Genital Herpes.

Regards
