What Causes Burning Sensation On Penis Skin?

Hello, I am experiencing a burning sensation on the skin of my penis shaft, an area of about an inch directly below the head (The head of the penis is completely fine), especially in the frenulum area during and after intercourse (At times I fear the frenulum might snap or tear). During sex it s not enough of a discomfort to make me stop, but afterwards it s unbearable, ESPECIALLY when I wash it. The contact with (cold) water alone intensifies the burning dramatically. The problem is not lubrication, my partner is well lubricated, we have been together for a year, we use the exact same brand of condoms, so I can t see a reason for this to happen. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Sexologist 's  Response
Hi,

If you had unprotected sex - need to rule out sexually transmitted infection. If not, it can be due to increased blood sugar causing neuropathic complication. It can be due to bacterial / fungal infection. Local application of antibiotics / anti-fungal can help you.

I hope I have answered your query. If you have further doubts, I would be happy to help you.

Regards,
Dr. S. R. Raveendran, Sexologist
