What Causes Burning Sensation Under The Ribs?

Why does it burn constantly under my left rib stomach area daily for almost 3 months now. Seems to be when I eat too. I m 5 4 103lbs and age 32 Male. It s been going on for almost 3 months, I woke up one day dizzy and threw up. A few days later I tried to eat a bowl of cereal and 1 bite made my stomach bloat up and really quick and then I had trouble eating since, went to ER they said they thought it was GERD, prescribed me Omeprazole and it helped after about 15 days, ran out with no refills, and 5 days later I got more. the 4th and 5th day off the meds I started burning in my side again and it got way worse, I could barely eat and lost about 20lbs in about 12 days. Had a CT Scan CBC and Thyroid test and it all came back fine. Would some kind of scope be the best way to go for this problem?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of burning sensation under the left rib for 3 months, increases on eating, lost weight to the tune of 20 lbs in 12 days. CT scan, blood work and thyroid are normal. Was told as GERD and given Omeprazole but the script ended in 15 days to be followed by recurrence of symptoms.
I think the problem is acidity related, can have gastritis or an ulcer too.
This can be perfectly diagnosed by an Upper GI Endoscopy only.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Continue Omeprazole.
Antacid gels/liquids every three hours particularly when on empty stomach.
Stop alcohol ad tobacco, tea, coffee and anything which you must have noted to cause you the problems.
Soft bland diet.
Small frequent feeds.
Consultation with a Gastroenterologist to get the final diagnosis, investigated and treated accordingly.
