Hi my husband is having an issue. He is having a burning sensation when he is urinating and is worried. A couple weeks ago he noticed blood when he was urinating but the doctor gave him antibiotics and the bleeding went away but he is still having the burning sensation. If you have any ideas, please let me know
Hi. The infection in the urinary system causes inflammation of urethra. When the urine is being passed , it flows through this inflamed urethra to give the burning sensation. The antibiotics would definitely help but a the urethra takes more time to heat, this sensation would persist for more days. Remember - the urinary infection needs a course of antibiotics of minimum of 3 weeks. The patient should take plenty of oral fluids to dilute and flush the system. He can try syp Alkalinizer 2 teaspoons in a glass of water after meals to reduce the burning. And tablet Urispas ( if available) one tablet twice a day till burning is stopped ( this can turn urine red - do not worry and tell the patient) I hope this will help him a lot. Always remember- always go for the tests of urine routine and culture sensitivity before starting treatment. (Secondly- if you too are suffering from UTI or white discharge, you should take a course of antibiotics. ) In case you are having the problem, otherwise not necessary.
